President Donald Trump announced on Saturday (November 7) that he has offered the position of White House press secretary to Dana White, the president and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social, praising White as a "violent fighter and warrior" and expressing the need for people like him to defend against the "lunatic left."
The offer comes as the White House seeks a permanent replacement for Karoline Leavitt, who resigned earlier this year. According to PBS NewsHour, the White House has not confirmed whether White will accept the role. However, White shared an image on Instagram of himself behind the White House press briefing room lectern with the caption, "On to the next chapter."
White, who is currently in London for a boxing event, is expected to meet with Trump on Monday in Washington, D.C., to discuss the offer further, as reported by TMZ.
Trump's announcement follows a tumultuous period for his administration, marked by significant losses in the recent midterm elections. The president has been making changes to his team, including appointing Stephen Miller as his new chief of staff. The White House press secretary position has seen turnover, with Katie Zacharia leaving after just five days in the role.
