Susie Wiles is stepping down as President Donald Trump's Chief of Staff, with Stephen Miller set to take over the role effective Monday, November 9. President Trump announced the change on Truth Social, stating that Wiles will transition to the Trump Political Operation. Trump praised Wiles for her service, describing her as having done an "outstanding job," according to the Financial Times.

The move comes after significant losses for Republicans in the recent midterm elections, where Democrats gained control of both chambers of Congress. Bloomberg reports that this is the first major change in Trump's inner circle following the elections.

Former Trump staffer Caroline Sunshine had previously called for Wiles to resign due to the election results, stating on Fox News that Wiles' campaign skills had not translated into effective governance. Sunshine suggested that Wiles' continued presence could negatively impact the Republican Party in future elections, as reported by The Hill.

Despite the criticism, Trump has consistently expressed confidence in Wiles, even after she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. Wiles announced in September that she is now cancer-free.
