A helicopter crashed into the waters of Biscayne Bay near Miami on Wednesday (November 4), resulting in the death of one person and injuring two others, according to authorities.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred at 11:26 a.m. off the coast of Key Biscayne, a barrier island known for its beaches and parks. Three people were aboard the Robinson R44 helicopter when it went down near Nixon Beach, close to Bill Baggs State Park.

Rescue crews responded quickly, with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard joining the search and recovery efforts. The U.S. Coast Guard stated that "one person is reported deceased & two people were transported by EMS" for advanced medical care. The two survivors were airlifted to a hospital, but their conditions were not immediately known. Video footage showed the helicopter upside down in the bay with its yellow emergency floats deployed.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. Authorities have not released further details about what led to the incident.
