Once Upon a Farm has voluntarily recalled all flavors of its Tractor Wheels Organic soft-baked bars after multiple reports of toddlers choking on the product. The announcement comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received several complaints that toddlers ages one-and-a-half to two-and-a-half years old suffered complete airway obstructions after eating the bars, which sometimes required emergency medical intervention and hospital observation.
The FDA explained that when chewed, the recalled soft-baked bars can form a dry, sticky mass that standard first-aid measures—like back blows or the Heimlich maneuver—may fail to dislodge. The recall includes all flavors, package sizes, and varieties, regardless of lot number or expiration date.
The bars were distributed nationwide through major retailers such as Costco, Target, Walmart, and online sellers including Amazon, reaching customers in 45 states and Puerto Rico. The recall covers all three flavors: Apple, Sweet Potato & Spinach; Strawberry, Pumpkin & Beet; and Banana, Pumpkin & Cauliflower.
Once Upon a Farm said it made the recall decision after three consumer complaints, stating, "We acted out of an abundance of caution, in the best interest of our customers and our commitment to quality. We are working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to make sure affected products are removed and families have the information they need." The company added, "We know that parents place their trust in us every time they buy one of our products. We fell short of that, and that is why we are taking these aggressive actions."
The FDA urges consumers not to eat or serve the recalled bars to toddlers and children, and to throw away any remaining product immediately. Anyone experiencing a choking emergency should seek immediate medical attention and call 911 if first-aid efforts do not resolve the blockage.
No other Once Upon a Farm products are affected by the recall.
