President Donald Trump expressed his disbelief over the sudden departure of Maria Bartiromo from Fox News and Fox Business. On Thursday (September 3), Fox News announced that Bartiromo, who had been with the network for over 12 years, would no longer be hosting her shows. Trump took to Truth Social to praise Bartiromo as a "true warrior" and a "total professional," predicting that her fans "will not be happy" with her exit.
Bartiromo's departure came as a surprise, with no official explanation provided by Fox News. The network stated, "Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with Fox News Media. We thank Maria for her work over the last 12-and-a-half years and wish her all the best on her next chapter." Her show, "Mornings with Maria," will be rebranded as "Mornings with Fox Business," featuring rotating anchors.
Speculation arose that Bartiromo might replace Karoline Leavitt as Trump's press secretary, but Vice President JD Vance dismissed these rumors, stating, "I love Maria. I think she's an amazing person, amazing talent. Whatever she does, she's gonna do great, and I wish her all the best." Bartiromo has not publicly commented on her exit.
According to Variety, Bartiromo's departure may be linked to her alleged sharing of confidential information with the White House. This information reportedly involved a directive from Fox News executives cautioning against supporting outlandish claims made by Trump. Bartiromo had been a vocal supporter of Trump, promoting claims about the 2020 presidential election that were later part of a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting against Fox News.
