Authorities in Worcester, Massachusetts, are searching for Karen Solomon, the wife of a deceased police officer, who is suspected to be involved in his death. Officer Kurt Solomon, a 31-year veteran of the Worcester Police Department, was found dead in their home on Wildwood Avenue early Tuesday (August 18). Karen Solomon, 58, has been missing since then and is considered armed and dangerous.
The search for Karen Solomon, who co-founded First H.E.L.P., an organization focused on mental health awareness for first responders, has involved multiple agencies, including Massachusetts State Police, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Homeland Security. The search, which began on Tuesday, has included aerial and marine units, as well as K-9 teams, focusing on areas near Coes Reservoir.
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. described the situation as a domestic incident but has not disclosed the cause of Officer Solomon's death due to restrictions on domestic violence cases. The DA emphasized the urgency of locating Karen Solomon, stating, "You got a person in the neighborhood, in the area, presumed to be armed and dangerous."
Karen Solomon was last seen on surveillance video near the Westside Animal Clinic on Tuesday morning, wearing pajama shorts and a tank top. The public is advised not to approach her and to contact the Worcester Police Department at 508-799-8606 if they have any information.
The community has been urged to remain vigilant, and Worcester Councilor At-Large Khrystian King expressed condolences to the Solomon family, calling for unity and support during this tragic time.
