California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that President Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate both him and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom. The governor made this claim in a video released Monday, describing the investigation as a misuse of federal power and calling it a "weaponized" effort by President Trump. Newsom said federal authorities have also targeted his family friends and former employees, alleging they are "looking for a crime" and "abusing grand jury processes" in recent days.

Newsom further urged President Trump to leave his wife and family out of what he described as a "personal vendetta," and promised to challenge what he called "lawlessness" and "corruption." According to Fox News, Jennifer Siebel Newsom has voiced strong criticism of President Trump, particularly following his recent "60 Minutes" interview, where she accused him of showing contempt toward women and normalizing disrespect from the highest office.

The tension between California officials and the Trump administration has been rising in recent weeks. According to Politico, federal prosecutors have stated they are conducting multiple investigations tied to the state’s primary election, and DOJ staff have been observed at ballot centers. California Attorney General Rob Bonta said his office is closely monitoring the situation to ensure state election laws are followed.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom has also spoken out about what she sees as a pattern of women being treated unfairly in President Trump’s administration. In a post highlighted by Yahoo News, she criticized the firing of two prominent female cabinet members and claimed that women in the administration face insecurity and discrimination.

As of now, the DOJ has not released public details about the scope or reasoning behind the investigations involving the Newsom family or their associates. The Newsoms have vowed to resist what they see as political retaliation, while federal authorities continue their probes and California officials prepare to challenge any actions they believe overstep legal boundaries.
