Florida police have concluded their investigation into the death of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, confirming that he died of natural causes on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the age of 71. Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, passed away from a heart attack, according to the medical examiner's report.
The Clearwater Police Department conducted a thorough investigation, interviewing multiple witnesses, including Hogan's son, Nick, and daughter, Brooke. They also reviewed medical records from various providers. Despite the comprehensive probe, police found no evidence of foul play.
Hogan had a history of leukemia and atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm, which contributed to his natural death. The investigation was prolonged due to the unique circumstances surrounding Hogan's passing, but police have now shared their findings with the family.
Hogan's family, including his wife Sky Daily, had expressed concerns about the medical treatment he received before his death. They filed a petition in Pinellas County court to extend the statute of limitations for a potential medical malpractice lawsuit. However, no accusations of wrongdoing have been made against any medical professionals involved in Hogan's care.
Hogan was a legendary figure in the wrestling world, known for his larger-than-life persona and numerous WWE championships. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and reinstated in 2018. A private funeral service was held on Monday, August 5, 2025, in Largo, Florida, attended by family and close friends.
ABC7NY and US News reported on the details of the investigation, while Fox 8 Cleveland highlighted the family's pursuit of answers regarding his medical care.
