The Trump Administration, led by Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, is considering a plan to stop processing international flights at airports in sanctuary cities. Mullin announced on Tuesday (May 26) that while the plan is not yet in action, preparations are underway. This move is in response to protests outside an immigration detention facility in Newark over the Memorial Day weekend.

Mullin, speaking on Fox News, expressed frustration with sanctuary cities, stating, "They don’t want us to enforce immigration, but they want us to process immigration at their facilities? Nothing about that makes sense to me."

If implemented, the plan could affect major airports like John F. Kennedy International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Chicago O’Hare International Airport, which are located in sanctuary cities. These airports are among the busiest in the U.S. for international flights.
