Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been released from jail in Wisconsin amid an ongoing domestic violence investigation. The Hobart/Lawrence Police Department arrested Jacobs on Tuesday (May 26) following a disturbance call on Saturday (May 23). He faces five charges, including strangulation and suffocation, battery-domestic abuse, and criminal damage to property-domestic abuse.

The Brown County District Attorney's Office canceled a scheduled court hearing on Wednesday (May 27), indicating that additional evidence may impact whether charges will be filed. Jacobs' attorneys, David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac, issued a statement saying, "Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public." They also requested fairness and restraint during the judicial process.

Jacobs, who joined the Packers in 2024, is the team's top returning rusher. Last season, he ran for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns. He previously played for the Raiders, where he earned All-Pro honors and led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022.

The Packers have acknowledged the situation, with a spokesperson stating, "We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment." The NFL has also been in contact with the Packers regarding the incident.

As the investigation continues, Jacobs' legal team remains confident that charges will not be brought against him.
