President Donald Trump completed his six-month physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday (May 26), declaring the results "perfect." The routine checkup comes as Trump, who turns 80 on June 14, prepares for his upcoming birthday.
According to the White House, the exam included both dental and medical evaluations. Trump, the oldest person elected to the presidency, has faced scrutiny over his health, but he and his doctors assure the public he remains in good condition. Last year, doctors diagnosed Trump with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition causing mild swelling in his lower legs. The president attributes some bruising to his aspirin intake, which he takes to prevent blood clots.
During a White House event earlier this month, Trump stated, "I feel the same as I felt 50 years ago. I'm not a senior. I'm far younger than a senior." His doctor, Sean Barbabella, reported last year that Trump’s leg swelling was due to chronic venous insufficiency, a benign condition often seen in those over 70.
Trump's health has been a topic of discussion, especially following his last physical in April, where he reportedly "aced" a cognitive test. He has maintained a busy schedule, despite rumors of dozing off during public appearances, which he denies. The White House has not yet released detailed results from the recent exam, but Trump expressed confidence in his physical and mental health.
As Trump continues to emphasize his fitness, he often contrasts his health with that of former President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the 2024 race after a debate with Trump. The president's commitment to his health remains a focal point as he approaches his 80th birthday.
