For the first time in more than 40 years, Costco is adding a new option to its iconic $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. Shoppers at the warehouse retailer can now choose a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature water instead of the traditional 20-ounce refillable soda, while the affordable price remains unchanged. The combo, a staple of the Costco food court since 1985, continues to feature a quarter-pound all-beef hot dog served with classic toppings and a soft bun.

The change is part of several recent updates to Costco’s food offerings, with more options expected to keep the menu fresh for members.

The new water choice offers a healthier or more convenient alternative for those who prefer not to drink soda or want a resealable bottle while shopping or traveling home. The change means customers no longer have to ask for a cup of water, which was previously available from the soda fountain but often lacked the taste and convenience of bottled water.

The combo’s legendary status comes not only from its low price, which has stayed the same since 1985, but also from its popularity across generations of shoppers

The addition of bottled water provides more flexibility for customers who may prefer water over soda or are looking for an easy-to-carry drink while shopping. The $1.50 combo continues to be available exclusively to Costco members.

There are no current plans to increase the price or remove the original soda option, and the new combo is already available at food courts nationwide. Costco CEO Ron Vachris recently affirmed, "The hot dog price will not change as long as I'm around," reassuring customers in a viral video from the food court.
