A Georgia high school teacher, Jason Hughes, tragically died after being run over by a teenager during a prank gone wrong on Friday (March 6). The incident occurred outside Hughes' Gainesville home when Jayden Ryan Wallace, 18, and four others attempted to flee the scene after "rolling" Hughes' trees with toilet paper.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Hughes, a math teacher at North Hall High School, exited his home to investigate the commotion. As he approached the vehicles, he tripped and fell into the road, where Wallace's pickup truck ran over him. Despite attempts by the teens to assist Hughes, he succumbed to his injuries at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Wallace faces charges including first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering. The four others involved, Elijah Tate Owens, Aiden Hucks, Ana Katherine Luque, and Ariana Cruz, were charged with criminal trespass and littering.

Hughes, remembered as a dedicated teacher and mentor, also served as the North Hall school director for NG3, an organization focused on character development in high school students. His death has deeply affected the community, with many gathering at North Hall High School to pay their respects.

The Hall County School District expressed their grief, stating, "Jason Hughes was a loving husband, a devoted father, a passionate teacher, mentor, and coach who was loved and respected by students and colleagues." Hughes leaves behind his wife, Laura, and two young sons.

The incident remains under investigation, and Wallace is currently in police custody. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Hughes' family during this difficult time.
