Passengers aboard Air Canada Flight 1502 were shocked when screams erupted from the cargo hold as the plane taxied at Toronto Pearson Airport on December 13. A ground crew member became trapped inside the cargo hold after the doors "inadvertently closed" behind him.

The incident occurred as the Airbus 321A, carrying 184 passengers, was preparing to depart for Moncton, New Brunswick. Passengers reported hearing muffled banging and screams, prompting flight attendants to rush down the aisle. The plane halted before reaching the runway, and the crew member safely emerged from the cargo hold, reassuring passengers he was unharmed.

The flight returned to the terminal, and passengers disembarked while the flight crew completed paperwork. The flight was ultimately canceled after several delays. Air Canada confirmed the incident and stated that no injuries occurred. The airline is investigating how the incident happened.

The trapped crew member was reportedly assisting with loading items and was not accounted for when the doors closed. Air Canada has compensated some passengers for the disruption.
