Aldi, the budget-friendly grocery chain, is set to expand significantly in the United States by opening more than 180 new stores by the end of 2026. This expansion will increase Aldi's footprint to nearly 2,800 locations this year, with a goal of reaching 3,200 stores by the end of 2028. As part of its growth strategy, Aldi will enter the Colorado market for the first time and open additional stores in the Southeast and West regions. The company also plans to establish three new distribution centers in Florida, Colorado, and Arizona to support this expansion.

Aldi's CEO, Atty McGrath, stated, "In 2026 we’re focused on making it even easier for customers to shop our aisles first," emphasizing the company's commitment to bringing Aldi to more neighborhoods and upgrading its website for a seamless shopping experience. The new website, launching early this year, will offer tailored product recommendations, expanded nutritional information, and shoppable recipes to enhance the online shopping experience.

Aldi's expansion is driven by sustained demand for its simple and affordable operating model. The company plans to invest $9 billion over five years to expand its store footprint, strengthen its supply chain, and upgrade its online shopping experience.

Aldi will also convert approximately 80 Southeastern Grocers storefronts to the Aldi format this year, with plans to have over 200 converted by the end of 2027. Additionally, Aldi will enter Maine with a store in Portland, marking its 40th state.
