Russian President Vladimir Putin said there was "no point in making any serious compromises" in regards to ending his country's yearslong invasion of Ukraine, having instead launched a massive drone attack on Wednesday (December 3) after rejecting the United States' proposed peace deal, the New York Post reports.

Russian drones struck Ternivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine on Wednesday, which resulted in two deaths and three others being injured. The Kremlin reportedly fired 111 strike and decoy drones during an overnight attack, according to Ukraine's air force.

Putin claimed he was "absolutely confident on the battlefield" while addressing Russian state media outlets following failed talks with President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, and son-in-law Jared Kushner ending in a stalemate. The comments were made hours after Putin claimed he was prepared to go to war with Europe while accusing European Union leaders of sabotaging peace discussions with the United States.

Putin was asked by a reporter to address Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijarto's warning that Europe was prepared to go to war with the Kremlin and, despite claiming he didn't want to, confirmed he was prepared for such actions.

"If Europe suddenly wants to start a war with us and starts it," Putin said while speaking to reporters via Reuters on Tuesday (December 2).

Putin also claimed that the yearslong invasion of Ukraine wasn't a full-blown war and said the Kremlin was acting in a "surgical" manner, which would not be repeated in the potential situation with the rest of Europe.

"They are on the side of war," Putin said of European powers.
