Mysterious masked rapper Daniel Dumile, known best by his stage name MF Doom, has died at the age of 49.
Dumlie's wife, Jasmine, confirmed the rapper died on October 31, exactly two months prior to the announcement of his death, in a post shared on MF DOOM's official social media accounts.
"The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for. Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off. Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet."
Dumile, who was born in London and moved to New York as a child, was previously part of the early 90s hip-hop trio K.M.D. under the rap name "Zev Love X" alongside his younger brother DJ Subroc and Onyx the Birthstone, who replaced original member Rodan.
Dumile took a hiatus from hip-hop after the death of his brother's death and returned in 1997 under the name MF Doom, sporting a masked inspired by Marvel supervillain Doctor Doom.
MF Doom is credited for several of hip-hop's most acclaimed albums including Mm.. Food and Madvillainy as part of the duo Madvillain alongside Madlib.
Dumile's wife did not reveal a cause of death as of Thursday (December 31.)
